Even though I was on a four-day work week, not much else could have gone wrong. Things feel off at the moment, culture and morale seem low, whilst projects are also chugging along slowly. Also had an underlying cold most of the week, which hasn't helped. After all of that moaning, I did manage a nice restful weekend; fully in the swing of marathon training, and an opportunity to see some friends.
Work
Time in meetings: 16.6 hrs
- Project proposal: Continuing to wrap up a proposal that I'm presenting to a client next week.
- Paperwork, negotiations and feeling tired: I spent most of Wednesday and Thursday this week trying to resolve some resourcing issues we're facing later this year. Involved lots of conversations with project teams, HR and my own team. Sadly didn't get the outcome needed, and ultimately really disheartened by some of the decisions being made at the moment, empathy and trust really lacking.
- Some difficult conversations: As a result of the decision-making, finding myself breaking and managing some unfair and ultimately disheartening news.
- Experimentation: On the plus side, we're starting to see some really positive movement in the cadence of experiments being deployed at the moment, a big step forwards in that area.
- Testing: A fair bit of testing across environments this week.
